Capitol Punishment
Capitol Punishment was the largest fetish dance party in Washington, DC. It was held in 2008, 2009 and 2010 on the Sunday of Columbus Day Weekend.
History
CapitolPunishment was created in October 2008 by fetish model Nicotine and event producer/DJ Xris SMack! (SMack!, Stimulate).
Nicotine began as a fetish model who, after a handful of runway shows at various fetish events around the United States came to feel that her hometown of Washington, DC lacked the kind of fetish party that she would want to attend. After hearing stories about what had, apparently, been a thriving fetish scene in the 1980s and 1990s (which, by the 21st century, was reduced mainly to a few hardcore play parties and weekly Goth nights), she decided to enlist the help of New Yorker Xris SMack! in starting her own event. Xris dubbed it "Capitol Punishment" and Nicotine created the tagline "One Nation Under Kink".
450 people attended the "Inaugural Ball", which was held at MCCXXIII in Washington, DC on October 11, 2008 and featured a fetish performance by Rebecca's Rubber Room, a latex clothing fashion show, and a large dungeon. Attendees included members of the Goth/Industrial, BDSM, fetish fashion, Gay & Lesbian, and swinger scenes which, until then, had been extremely factioned. Word of the event quickly spread and it has since developed a reputation as one of the most ambitious and decadent events in the Washington, DC area of the last two decades.
