Photographing latex

Getting the best possible photograph of someone in latex clothing requires a good technique. Snapping pictures of your object of desire can be rewarding in itself, but some simple advice can greatly enhance the viewing pleasure later on. Photos generally look better if the clothing has been treated with latex polish to make it shiny.

1. Light
   1. Position major light sources away from the camera but not directly to the side
   2. Two or three main light sources are usually good:
      • One leads to sharp shadows.
      • Four or more can cause a dull appearance and flatten the depth, if their relative intensities are not balanced.
   3. More is better, until it becomes uncomfortable because the heat makes the model sweat profusely.
2. Layout
   • Going closer to the subject is often good - as close as your lens allows.
   • Often it is good to position the main subject a bit to the side, away from the very centre of the image.
   • Check that objects in the background do not interfere with the foreground subject (e.g. trees growing out of people's heads etc.)
3. Setting
   • Poor attention to detail can spoil an otherwise great shot; remove unwanted clutter, check the background for inappropriate objects (beer bottles etc.).
   • If possible, get the model to relax.
4. Post processing
   1. Work on a copy of the original - not the original, in case you make an irreversible mistake.
   2. Crop the image, but not too much.
   3. Adjust light levels.
   4. Scale to screen.
   5. Adjust sharpness but not excessively.
