Rubbout
Rubbout is an annual party weekend of rubber, gear and leather for men held in Vancouver, Canada. Rubbout is traditionally held in the first half of April. The red devil rubber duck has become the unofficial mascot of the weekend event.
Bill “Northwind” Houghton started Rubbout in 1992 as a low-key annual rubber event. Over the years, Rubbout evolved into a weekend production with a meet & greet on Friday, a social/play party Saturday, and a brunch on Sunday. The last Rubbout organized by Bill was Rubbout 12 in 2003.
In 2004, the Rubbout social moved from being a house party to a warehouse party. Rubbout 13, produced by Mitch & Friends, also added latex body painting demos at Pumpjack.
In 2005, the excitement continued with Buster flying in from Phoenix to perform a balloon demo at Pumpjack. Buster got inside a balloon naked in what proved to be a very sensual experience and another first at Pumpjack.
2006 was another first at PumpJack, with a vac-rack demo. In 2007 the “cube” was premiered.
2008, 2009 and 2010 events were made memorable with more attendees, an aggressive sponsorship/affiliate program, and attendance by titleholders from across North America.
Rubbout, after more than 20 years, has grown to be a small international event with many businesses in the Village uniting together to help welcome the world of fetish. Rubbout 23 was April 4-6, 2014. The theme for 2014 was GEAR UP! The rubbermen were asked to wear their sexiest sports gear.
