Talk:Fetish

I think this article could use some overhaul, especially since "fetish" is so connected to the core topic of the wiki. It's a bit of a task for the moment, but I wanted to lay everything out there for now.

Let me know what you think of an outline similar to this: -etymology of the word; meanings (Zuni and otherwise)

-modern use (applicability to latex) -as a classification of specialized interest ;) -as an aesthetic; sensual/sexual connotations;

-meaning in culture/subculture -in fashion -as lifestyle

-controversy : depiction in media; classification as mental disorder

Overall, the tone could use a bit more, well, positivity. It's a chance to explain to the rest of the world why fetish is important to this corner of the population! What does fetish mean to us anyway (while still speaking factually)?

As it stands, the article also cites "Sexual Masochism" (S&M) rather than an entry on "Paraphilia" (Fetishes), so the argument isn't a great one. I'll put in a little time on this once I get myself a copy of the DSM-IV-TR. A mention to revisef65.org (a coalition working to destigmatize and declassify sexual pluralities as abnormalities or disorders) is perhaps also appropriate.
