Slippery Seal enjoying a Latexistential experience

Existentialism is a philosophical movement that posits that individuals create the meaning and essence of their lives, as opposed to deities or authorities creating it for them. It is up to humans to create an ethos of personal responsibility outside any branded belief system. In existentialist views, personal articulation of being is the only way to rise above humanity's absurd condition.

Latexistentialism suggests that people may attribute existential-like qualities to latex or rubber wear. It suggests that the overall aesthetic, sensual and psychological experience of latex becomes more than the sum of its parts. The wearing of latex can be seen as a practical philosophy or even a living art.

The word was discovered to be a convenient portmanteau of latex and existentialism. The word should not be taken too seriously and should be accepted in good humor. It was though intended to offer affirmation to those who believe that their fascination with latex is more than a sexual fetish. It was coined by SlipperySeal, a moderator of rubberist.net.
